stabled in the yard at Donald, on the Mildura line, on the morning of Wed.6.10. This loco had
been taken off the down Mildura goods, 9141, earlier that morning and would be added to the
return service, 9140, that night. (58 kb).
|
| X54, long end leading, and G536 hauling a loaded grain train out of the Grain Centre siding
and into Dimboola on the morning of Mon.13.9.04 - the locos were subsequenty remarshalled
placing the G on the Melbourne end and thus the X would not have been on the front when the
train departed that evening. (77 kb).>
|
| The unusual combination of V544 and X52 on the front of a two wagon train, sighted here at
Horsham just before its departure for Dimboola on the morning of Wed.8.9.04 - These two locos
arrived at this location behind a G class loco on the down Dimboola goods, 9791, with the G
continuing onto Dimboola earlier in the morning with a rake of grain wagons. (61 kb).
|
| Some of the variety now seen leading Pacific National services on the Western Line -
Since late April when modifications were completed to the NR class allowing any member to lead
trains in Victoria, all of the different liveries applied to the this class have been reported
up front, such as on this occasion on Tues.24.8 when Ghan unit NR109 was sighted leading
NR112 on a down steel train, SP2, seen here passing the down end of Dimboola Loop at about 17 20. (58 kb).
|
| Unusual motive power on a branchline - EL64 and G534 leading a down empty grain train
(9781), seen here approaching the siding at Pullut, between Jeparit and Rainbow on the Yaapeet

Western line grain services to both Portland and Geelong since the demise of the veteran B
and S locomotives.. (68 kb).

| Not a great photo, but nonetheless a record shot of the first GL class locomotive to visit
western Victoria.

|
| Something we would like to see more of - not a G class in sight....
Heritage unit B74 on the front of a grain train stabled at Dimboola on Mon.23.2. (85 kb)
|
| This attractive combination was captured at Dimboola on the morning of Fri.23.1.
Unfortunately this it will probably not leave the yard without a G on the front, but it
still makes a colourful change even if it is only while stabled in the yard. (100 kb)
|
| Elusive heritage locomotive B74 is seen here as second unit in a lash-up with G520, G540
and G533. The train is a Portland-bound grain train which originated at the Dimboola GrainFlow
Centre, but is seen here stabled in the yard at Dimboola on the afternoon of Mon.19.1., awaiting
a late afternoon departure. (92 kb)
|
| Something a little different... ATN Access grain train 9742 reflected in the side of
the relay box at the down end of Dimboola Loop. The train had just finished loading and was
pushing back before the locos ran around the train to prepare for departure.
Locomotives were (L)254-(J)103-(GM)10-(S)317 and are seen here late on the morning of
Friday the 9th of January 2004. (40 kb)
|
| ATN Access made a welcome return to the west of the state, after an absence of over a year,
when in early January a series of grain trains operated between the re-named Dimboola GrainFlow
Centre and the Globex export teeminal in Melbourne. The second of these trains is seen here
loading at midday on a damp Sunday the 4th of January, fronted by locomotives
(L)254-(GM)10-(S)317-(J)103. (69 kb)
